The DS1.11 are really a "track only" pad that work optimally with heat generated from fast lap times/heavy braking... The DS2500 however is more of a cross-over fast road/track compound...

Yes track 'only'. I only ever brake very hard! 😆

I've had DS1.11 on lots of cars and never experienced the same problem, (It happened mid way through a track day). Now I've swapped pads all is well, zero fade, even on longer stints.

I only JUST pass the drive-by db limit at Brands (been black flagged a couple times) so I would have no chance at Bedford! 😨

Thats a shame I'm 0.5 DB under at Bedford, what exhaust are you running?

It's just a standard Cayman S exhaust but its also been de-snorked & running a BMC filter so I'm guessing the induction roar pings the drive-by db monitor... Runs 98db static...

Interesting, mine is the same +

Carnewal GT

De snork

BMC filter

Additions since last time at Bedford: IPD plenum + map

I'm hoping the IPD plenum won't send me over, if so I'll have to Heath Robinson a silencer up.

Resurrecting this thread!

I may need to replace my Sebro disks this year, but can't find anyone selling them anymore.

The disks will get seriously abused, so drilled are out the window. I looked for the kintix ones mentioned above but I can't find those either.

Thoughts?

How many track days on your current ones?

It's time for Girodisc Dougle, they cost more initially but on the long run you save more as they last longer! And increased diameter means also increased performances! Plus the look of them....OMG!

You're right. I spoke to Design 911 and they said they won't get any more Sebro rears. Mine has done 13 track days so will need replacing soon as well. Would love the Giro discs, but they're so much.

I spoke to someone who races with standard 987 front discs / callipers on the rear, but uses 997 carbon ceramic callipers up front with 997 GT3 discs. I thought this would be impossible due to the handbrake and diameters not matching? Maybe because it's a race car the hubs and calliper mounts were changed. Seems like a lot of effort and strange combo.

People are reporting  25+ trackways/DE events with them.  I'd say that pretty good value for money. Obviously depends all on 2 major factors: driving style and cooling.

I think my current ones (sebro slotted from EuroCP) have done 20 odd track days and a couple of road trips. The wear is actually minimal, but the surface of the disk has some crazing. Ideally I like to replace like for like and then skim the current ones to see if the crazing is just on the surface or not.

Given how well the Sebros have lasted I'm not sure the Girodisks are worth it for the cost. If  I start spending that sort of money I'd be tempted to get some APs or a PB 380mm brake kit.

I've just realised that this thread is about rear disks!!!! 🤦‍♂️ God I'm a mong sometimes.

So to clarify, I run standard rear disks, they have done 20 odd track days and smashed through 5 sets of pads. There's a bit of stress fracturing going on, but it's not much.

What I really need are some Sebro Slotted fronts (although they may be fine) pictures below. What do you guys think? The fronts have gone through 6-7 sets of pads.

I was wondering if the fronts could easily be upgraded to 997 units? I've also spoken to Surface Transforms about developing some carbon jobbies for me.

I personally wouldn’t have that on the road - let alone track. On track they’d worry me s4itless ! But being an Engineer by trade / dealing with lack of maintenance and often the ensuing carnage on a daily basis does make me mechanically sympathetic and a ‘worrier’ more than most....

On the flip-side; and from riding / racing Enduro bikes week in - week out in the past I’m also well aware how consumable costs just go on and on and you need too eek out what life you can.

You certainly ain’t spared them much; that’s for sure 🤣

Interesting, why do you say that? The fronts have been crazed like that since the first track day I did on them. The rears are exhibiting the sort of hairline cracks I've seen on every car with drilled discs that I've owned.

The Porsche specialist who serviced and MOT'd it didn't bat an eyelid to them either. Am I missing something?

I'm certainly not trying to eek extra life out of them, they have minimal overall wear and I wouldn't risk the car or myself if I thought they were in any way dangerous.
