GT4 in Agrate

Nail it

Recommended Posts

My new car, traded the GTS in and took deleviery of this a few weeks back.

Car has quite a few nice bits fitted to it ver standard and most you will see from the pics.

Having the car detailed as it had a few blemish son the paint from Porsche, but that's all done now and the complete car has had paint ceramic protection before the film is going on, having the complete front done to back of wings, the sills and rear sides by vents and then the rear arches, using xpel film in different grades.

You're not far away, where did you have it detailed, what did they do, and at what cost?

Anything they got wrong?

Thanks.

Looks fab by the way! But then what Cayman doesn't?

You can view the detail etc that this car has had at deepinpactdetailing.com

they have done a fantastic job and I am very happy so far with the results and looking forward to getting it back very soon so I can get some miles on it and run it in

Hi, they are doing a great job on it and I am very picky if iam being honest, film is going on tomorrow and can't see that being a problem.

they are in daventry so not far away at all and the price was very good as I got quotes from quite a few places to do the same work.

I guess I'd want this one: http://www.deepimpactdetailing.com/#!new-car--protection-detail/cicx

Given a weekend free, I'd have a go myself once I work out all the different things I need!

Thing is, back in the 70's I won "Best Paint" at a custom car show and all I used was a bottle of carnauba polish, similar to Auto Glym SRP! Are we going a little OTT to give our babies the best nowadays? :S

I can polish, have all the gear etc, even wet flatted a complete car (escort cosworth) as did concourse and won many times wth it, but if you are having film fitted then you want the paint to be as good as it can be as you can't get to it once fitted, yes I could have done it myself but with the price I got for the complete job it wasn't worth me going at it really

but if you have the time then why not

Ah... film too!!

Must be costing a fortune. I guess you're thinking this will be a keeper?

Oh... hang on... shouldn't you be joining the gang of workers here?: http://www.caymanoc.com/topic/189-detailing-pay-for-it-or-diy-where-how/?page=2#comment-1653

It's costing a bit but the guys have done me a great price, as they want to use it for there web site, plus they had a guy from evo mag taking pics of it being done,

It might end up in evo mag as well as they want to do a feature on it

That looks amazing! How far did you go with the film?

I'm confused... Is the "film" also the "ceramic coating"?

What is "ceramic" about it?  Is it made in the Potteries?

What weight would "coating" a whole car add?

O.o

Right let me explain

first the car got a new car detail to remove any defects from the paint, it had a few from sanding etc from Porsche

then the car was coated in a ceramic clear coat that seals the paint and helps with scratches and cleaning

then the film goes on, I have had the complete front end done to the windscreen, side skirts and air vents up to join and then some little bits behind the rear wheels on the rear bumper

then the car gets ceramic coated again including the film

l have also had the underside metals, suspension etc ceramic coated (different stuff to the paint) to protect them and keep them looking like new

also in the price they ceramic coated my brake calipers and wheels and also the  complete inside from front boot to back

so as you can see just about the complete car has been sorted and it's looking fantastic and will stay looking good for years to come plus it will be easy to clean, well worth getting done and would recommend these guys if you want it doing, as the price was very good plus they have gone the extra mile on my car and nothing has been to much or a problem for them and I am a very fussy guy

cheers dunc

Thanks for the explanation. Is "ceramic" just a name for the coating or is there actually an ingredient which is somehow ceramic?
