Cayman R Car Cover

Recommended Posts

Thank you! Oh that looks way better than the specialist car cover I got. Thank you, really kind of you. Looks good that it is soft and silky as my old one is not. I'll take pics of it tomorrow in daylight. Thanks again!

Selling my Stormforce 4 layer outdoor cover if anyone is interested, message me.

Shame I missed that, but probably wouldn't have fitted the R anyhow.

Thank you both. When you say fleece, so in effect, a soft indoor cover - and then the outdoor on top yep? Any make recommendations as to your point on damage when putting it on, I found the Specialist one very tight to get over some of the curves of the car....I get its got to be tight though

hi Juilen,

did you end up buying a cover, what was your experience? Do you cover over autumn and winter?

Hiya

I didn't get a cover in the end. I had terrible experience with them, even high end one from https://www.specialisedcovers.com/

Over time it marked the paint everywhere and more hassle than its worth.

I have found from 3 years now of my R being without a cover that the ceramic coating and good washes has kept it much better than my previous cars with a cover.

Thanks for the insight. As a new owner I plan to follow your lead. Did you select a particular brand of coating and do things yourself or did you select a reputable  detailer and their recommendations?  How often do you maintain the treatment?

I notice you are in Surrey so my recommendation, or at least what i do, is probably feasible for you.

I use Richard Tipper

Twitter perfectionvalet to see his work

He who looks after Harry Metcalfe's cars (of Harrys Garage) and from his twitter feed you'll see he is looking after pretty much the rarest cars in the world.

He is affiliated with Porsche as their car care guru

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2020/sport-lifestyle/porsche-masterclass-part-3-car-detailing-richard-tipper-20562.html

After I got my R he did a detail and used Gtechniq ceramic coating and then on occasion I have taken it back to him for a little buff and shine, but not more Gtechniq just a good deep clean.

he is regarded as the best detailer in the UK and is based in Chalfont Saint Giles

Hope that helps!

That he is trusted with this speaks volumes. Trawl his whole feed and you'll soon realise how well regarded he is by those with seriously expensive rare cars. That trust sold me on going to Richard.
