Cheers for the heads up, just ordered from the same supplier - if all goes well should come in at just shy of £90 all in :)

Arrived today - no extra customs duty / vat to pay - so worked out at £73.91 delivered. Very happy with that!

Getting mine fitted on the 15th when I get my fluid changed

Hi All,

Well got round to getting my car into the garage and having the master cylinder fitted, in a word it s**t!!!!!! Just took it back to the garage and i am a little pissed of that he said i thought you would be back..... The peddle goes to the floor and comes back a little if its pumped but goes again nearly straight away,he thinks maybe the seal on the back maybe has not sealed properly but just wondered if any of you had any ideas?

Cheers Dean

I think he just hasn't bled it properly. This was what mine was like before I bled it thoroughly. I was expecting this and so had prepared to do multiple bleeds/ABS cycles.` IN took a few rounds but eventually firmed up. I believe @Cito was the same too

l hope so, with the std M/C i had some free travel but with good brakes there after, so hoping when sorted there will be break straight from the of

Definately not bled properly. The ABS needs to be cycled or activated. despiter pressure bleeding it mine was horrible. I went up the road and stamped on the mushy pedal several times to activate the ABS.

I then bled as normal and the pedal came right up with a much firmer feel, as expected. Loads of info on the net about it. It's not a particular Porsche problem, sack your garage!

Yes,

I got the same issue. Once has been bleed properly, the difference was evident.

I went to my local garage but I bet that if I would have gone to my indy, that would not have happened.

Your average indie will not be as experienced with installing MCs and bleeding brakes as a good local.  Always go local for jobs that require no specialist skills or experience (or do it yourself).

The Guy has 15 years working for Honda and 7 for Porsche as well as being a mechanic for a top TT team and having his own business for the past 16 months, so you would hope they would know what they where doing

You woud hope they know what they are doing..

It's so hard to find someone who has the ability to match expectations. I have seen some motorsport 'expert engineers' who are shockingly inept TBH.

Sadly I have to agree with this. I had a supposed race engineer setup my car and it was awful. CG redid it and it was amazing (ie.the previous guys did not badly)

I had this exact same outcome when I tried (well, my mech) to install my MC. Am back to stock.  He did try to bleed a few times but the pedal still went to the floor.  He sent me a video to show this.  Wasted money on brake fluid and labor.

Ye thats the same sort of thing mine said, 3lts through the system and no pedal, it was in for a brake fluid change so need that doing anyway but still

You should be asking for your money back.  Paying for incompetence is not one of my strong suits.

To give more context: any air in the system will cause the mushy pedal.  The pedal hitting the floorpan is the air compressing.  You'll find that, if you rapidly press the pedal to compress the air, your brakes would then work.

I used just under 2 litres and had a rock solid pedal after the double bleed.  A vacuum pump is your friend for the majority, then doing it the old fashioned way to firm the pedal right up (helper on pedal, you on nipple with hose submerged in fluid).  This works for me on every car without fail.  I've never been a fan of pressure bleeders and the faff they cause.
