Paul Dean Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Hi guys/girls has anyone had leaking in the when it rains? I have a base 987 2007 and just started getting water ingress, I’ve lowered the rubber boot lid adjusters as far as they will go , but it’s not solved the issue , the seal looks good and the drain holes are clear so I’m at a loss
Aaron Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 The seal looks damaged in your image. Has it dipped/sunk in where the water spot is?
Paul Dean Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 Hi Aaron the seal looks good I’ll try upload a better picture later, it water making it look damaged , I cant see that it’s dipping/sunk but I’ve not had the car long so wouldn’t know how high a new seal would sit

Ben Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I've not had this particular problem, but there are a few good suggestions of areas to check here: https://www.planet-9.com/threads/2009-cayman-with-wet-carpet-to-driver-side-rear-trunk-area.64942/

Paul Dean Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 Hi Ben thanks for the reply these seem to be lower leaks from light clusters etc , mine is coming over the seal as if the seal is not doing its job or boot lid sealing the gap

The heat may help the rubber regain its original shape. Failing that, it sounds like it's time for a new seal.
Paul Dean Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 I’m hoping to take it off today, weather permitting 👍
Ben Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Some of this may help too https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sonax-gummipflege-rubber-treatment-stick
Paul Dean Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 Thanks for this guys I took the seal off today and rotated it about six inches, I have washed the car with no water coming in, but I’ll see how it goes after a few days of rain before refitting the carpet. I’ll more than likely get a replacement seal in the new year though 1
Paul Dean Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Bit the bullet yesterday and paid the £97 for a new seal from ml performance, hopefully this will sort it or the missus will kick my danglies, I’m also ordering a gummie pfledge stick to treat all the rubbers 👍
Aaron Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Did it start leaking again or are you changing it as a precaution? Shame if it's started leaking again. It's an usual seal to fail as far as I know.
