Popular Post thumb5
Hello everyone! A quick post to introduce myself, and perhaps more importantly my car. I'm Ian, live in Warwickshire and at the week-end collected my Cayman. It's a 981 2.7 manual, in Agate Grey: As you can see, 19" Cayman S wheels which look rather fetching. It has a few nice bells and whistles some of which I haven't yet worked out how to use...that's a pretty thick owner's manual! Really enjoyed my first proper drive in it to bring it home (about 150 miles). It's a very different car to the Maserati 3200GT I've been driving for the last ten years, and I'm looking forward to getting to know it as well. CaymanOC seems like a very friendly forum, and this is a good point to thank those of you who replied to my first post while I was still dithering. In particular DJMC has been a great sounding board - thanks!

DJMC
Nice one! Do you know, I don't think I've opened the manual once since buying mine last November. Maybe I'll go have a read... I found "shuffle" on the PCM but can't remember how to do it now! (tracks, not my slippers, before some smart**s* comments!).

Red5
Welcome and wow! You ran a 3200 for TEN years? How was that for you? I guess you must have loved it to keep that long? A 981 is quite a change, so would be interested to hear your process and which others from your shortlist that fell along the way. Do you hope to keep this one as long? Do you hope to keep this one as long? Yes. It was an "interesting" experience in more ways than one. I'd wanted one since they were first made - I still think it's a drop-dead gorgeous-looking car - and bought mine when it was about five years old to be my daily driver. Surprisingly inexpensive to buy, but keeping it in top condition was quite a financial undertaking, to say the least. It was very different from the 981 to drive, as you said: the throttle was hair-trigger-sensitive, with simply ridiculous torque from about 2500 rpm, although its handling was better suited to sweeping high-speed dual-carriageways than twisty B-roads. It always had the capacity to surprise me with how quickly it would accelerate, even after ten years. You're right, I did love it, but eventually I wanted something more predictable, modern, and (dare I say it) easy to live with - but still fun. Actually I spent a long time thinking about much more mainstream (read: boring) cars, and the Cayman was an outside runner - then my wife saw it on my list, bless her, and said "that would be nice". So here we are...and yes, I do plan to keep it for quite some time. Thanks for asking, it's nice to tell a bit of a story. Madmoggy
Hi Ian Looks a lovely choice you made there, hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as the GT. My mate runs a GT3200 and he has the same opinion, great to drive but expensive to maintain and run as a daily, it kind of put me off getting one

Popular Post Bill Wells
I know how you feel about the manual. I have had my Cayman S for about three weeks and still reading through the manual. Your car looks good, I like the color. It's fun getting used to a new car. I also have had a Lexus Sc 430 for 14 years and believe me they are different driving cars. Since this photo I Plasti-dipped the wheels black. I did the Lexus several years ago and liked the look.
