Cayman R - Diff Change

Recommended Posts

Has anybody ever looked at fitting a different spec diff to their Cayman R (or any Cayman) in order to shorten the gears a bit? I've always thought most Caymans have quite long gear ratios...

I'm guessing the answer, anything is possible if you want to spend the money!

EMCO did (do?) produce a shorter ration (4.22 if my memory serves me right) but it has proved very unreliable in racing, so I'm not sure it would be a wise choice.

Hang on, thats what I said...

6 speed if you drive stick in the CR.

Does the "R" have a different diff ratios than the base or "S" model?

I don't think so, unless the LSD affects the final drive ratio - which I don't know the answer to
