Cayman R - Diff Change

Recommended Posts

Has anybody ever looked at fitting a different spec diff to their Cayman R (or any Cayman) in order to shorten the gears a bit? I've always thought most Caymans have quite long gear ratios...

I'm guessing the answer, anything is possible if you want to spend the money!

Anything is possible. If you want to spend the money. Is the manual a seven speed? On the PDK in sport plus it looses 7th gear and Vmaxes in 6th. 7th is sooo long as its just a fuel economy gear.

EMCO did (do?) produce a shorter ration (4.22 if my memory serves me right) but it has proved very unreliable in racing, so I'm not sure it would be a wise choice.

6 speed if you drive stick in the CR.

Does the "R" have a different diff ratios than the base or "S" model?

I don't think so, unless the LSD affects the final drive ratio - which I don't know the answer to
