SarahP
Does anybody know how I can connect my iPod to my car CD player? There isn't a little plug socket like I used to have in my last car, seems a bit old fashioned...
Uncle Dave
What CD player do you have at the moment? Its a bit of a pain generally in the Gen1 cars to retrofit something, but certainly achievable.
Founder Beanoir™ Posted December 2, 2015 Founder Share Posted December 2, 2015 Cheap solution is an FM transmitter gadget, which cost from £30 upwards. Not so good on the sound quality front though, but cheap and easy and doesn't require much in the way of installation. The more advanced solution is a Dension Gateway, sound quality is much better and integrates in slightly more OEM type of way with the car, they are more expensive though and require a specialist to fit unless you're happy to start fiddling with wiring in your car. http://www.carcommunications.co.uk/car-accessories/ipod-car-kits/porsche_1095/connects2-ipod-iphone-mp3-aux-adaptor-for-porsche-ctvpo001
SJC
+1 The Dension is a good option, had one in my Audi and it worked well.

The denison thing people have suggested looks quite complicated but if it does what I need then maybe I'll ask Santa who can fit these kind of things, no way I can do this
Founder Beanoir™ Posted December 6, 2015 Founder Share Posted December 6, 2015 If you can't fit it yourself, then you might have find an independent car audio shop in your area and ask them to do it.
SarahP
Thanks everyone, I've ordered one (from Santa!) and I have a friend who recommended a local car radio shop who I spoke to and can fit it!!
SarahP
I got my iPod adaptor for xmas (lucky me!) and but it's so complicated i'm not sure i'm going to be able to fit it, i spoke to halfords and they don't fit them because it isn't something they sell, so i'm not sure how to get it done. So still no iTunes in my car

I use one of these in my cheap daily drive, I got this £25 Belkin one from Halfords http://www.halfords.com/technology/connectivity/car-fm-transmitters/belkin-tunecast-ii-fm-transmitter It is 'ok' and it's all I wanted for my 30min drive to work, not sure if the higher priced ones are better quality. I'd want something a bit more sophisticated for the Cayman though. The Dension system looks interesting, I'd just need to find somewhere suitable to install it for me, anyone had it done and got a rough idea of fitting cost?
