  1. That’s my exact spec (and in silver). No regrets (though occasionally I wonder about my choice PDK vs manual) but having read someone on here saying they just switch into manual change & use the lever, I am happier than just using the paddles. I did a carnewal exhaust which is fab as didnt have PSE. Having gone through 993, 997, and brief diversion into Z4M Coupe/ i8, I settled on the Cayman R & couldnt be happier.
  2. A quick & grateful acknowledgement to Julian987 for bringing this opportunity up…I work in the next door road to the Caterham Gatwick centre which rents out cars & today took out a 310R for a 120 mile trip round Kent (similar sub 5sec performance) - hadn’t realised they rented them as I regularly walked slowly by, until your post & I have been waiting for the rain to stop ever since. As everyone knows, a totally different driving & passenger experience to the CaymanR I went to & from the CG location nr Three Bridges. The caterham was a ‘standard’ and so boy was it a squeeze, huge fun 20-60mph & pretty competent on rough roads…felt similar to an Eliza 160 super sport I owned 20 years ago which was just too lary. The CaymanR feels more like a grownup Elise 135 in style, but of course more competent all round. After 120 miles in the 310R I am ready for an early night…in the CaymanR, after 120miles, I am ready for the next 120….
  3. No, I went for the swap, which was just under E500, plus £30 shipping my one back to him (goes next week), and fitting from the local Porsche independent. He had one with around 30k miles on, which matched my car history.
  4. I had a feeling a combination of joining this group & being on furlough was likely to be expensive....new ICE installed last week (proper satnav & sound); car currently at garage just having had GT exhaust fitted. I get to pick it up Friday.....
  5. Would love to be there...need to see how it goes as it is a birthday weekend. Can I sign up as a provisional?
  6. Would be great to hear how it goes - assume google maps etc are via bluetooth. Being quoted £500 for the rear kit & fitting, plus the cost of main unit, as I have BOSE pack already...so definitely not putting this through the household account..
  7. Thanks for the kind welcome. Has anyone changed their PCM head unit to something with Bluetooth / apple play etc + have any advice on pros/ cons.
  8. Hello everyone - new joiner to the forum. I bought my R a couple of years ago & have been enjoying it around the Sussex countryside ever since. It’s a 2012, and from what I read on this forum, a bit ‘soft’ being PDK and no sports seats, but were v few around & have been loving driving it with no regrets. I used to have Lotus Elises, Z4M Coupe, i8, and my Porsche experience has been a 993 Targa (stolen), and 997C2 (rats nested over winter in the engine compartment & wrote off car)...so a bit nervous - but most enjoyable car I have had. As this is a moderate/regular use car and makes the post-drop school run home through the downs so much more fun, I am looking to upgrade the ICE to something where the satnav works...is that a further black mark??
