I've done a lot of research on the 987 Cayman and I think I've narrowed it down to a Gen1 2.7. Can't quite stretch to a Gen2, and I understand that the bore-scoring/oil-consumption issue is less prevalent on the 2.7 than it is on the 3.4. Is this sound logic? I plan to use the car as my Daily Driver (20k miles per year) and do as much of the servicing and repairs myself. I have noticed on the internet a dealer called Reason in Ipswich. SimonP Posted February 6, 2018 Share Posted February 6, 2018 I should just google around and find an independent Porsche specialist near you and go and talk to them before you buy. That's what I did in Birmingham and very helpful they were too. Zuffenhaus in Wythall will now be looking after my 987 Gen 2.
