CadmannUK
Hi, Am about to have my first Porsche delivered tomorrow. A lovely 2013 Cayman 2.7. Wanted to know do any of you use car covers outside? Will have to keep it outside for a month or two so wanted to know your views? Thanks Cad

SFAlfaDude
Hi, I purchased and use a Stormforce outdoor cover. They are not cheap compared to Amazon (cheap) covers but you have after all just purchased your Porsche and it’s worth the extra pennies! The cover is brilliant, they are the perfect fit and don’t come off no matter the weather. When removing and replacing it onto/off the car, you do need to be mindful of how to take it off and not allow the inside (clean side) to roll up onto the outer side but you will figure that out. https://www.cover-zone.com/products/search-results/?make=69&model=Cayman you will love your Cayman, they are awesome cars. If you want to show it off, let us know roughly where you are located and we can arrange a cayman owners meet if nearby! 😉
GrahamHill56
I'd re-enforce the above comment. I live next door to an motor dealer & he always runs down covers because no matter how careful you are the inside of the the cover will always pick up dirt & ultimately scratch the paint when you take them on & off. This is especially true if it's a daily driver. But you will enjoy your
SFAlfaDude
I should have also stated the obvious, never put the cover onto a wet or dirty car! Mine isn’t a daily driver so having the car cleaned and cover on is no great hassle for me. If it’s a daily, perhaps the cover isn’t worth considering. Julian987
I had a supposedly really good car cover made by https://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers for my 944 Turbo. Over the years I noticed that the cover was doing more damage to the paint than protecting it, caused so many scratches. and when it would have rained yet I needed to go somewhere, one removes the wet cover and has to store it somewhere, and then when you return, depending on the duration of trip, the cover is still wet and weighs a ton and the whole experience is a total faff. This time around with my Cayman R I have gone with ceramic coating. Furthermore, I have learnt the methods of good car detailing, and I think both ceramic and well maintained car cleaning routines will be as good if not better than an outdoor car cover. SFAlfaDude
Thats a good call Julian. It goes without saying that any car cover will introduce the possibility of rubbing and possible surface scratching as its in close contact with the car panels. The cover I currently use (& have seen no signs of any scratching to date) has no seems on the inside and is a soft material on the inside which should at least minimise this possibility but a car without a cover that has full ceramic protection and maybe even paint protection film as well might be the best option. This will require a significant investment for both ceramic and PPF which runs into the £'000's. Edited June 15, 2021 by SFAlfaDude

Montana
I also used the Stormforce Outdoor Cover on my Jaguar STR for eight years without any issues. I added extra Web Straps under the Car, which prevented any billowing in high winds and a couple of storms.
