Re-cover Steering Wheel

Hi all,

 

I maybe asking a stupid question but when getting prices to re-cover my multi-function 3 spoke in leather, and the guy said he doesn't wrap the horn/airbag as the airbag would no longer be able work. Is this common, I kinda think that I have seen steering wheels done before including the horn.

 

Also, who have you used before ?

I could see how they wouldn't want to do it, unless it was already covered from factory, which some are. It's a safety issue isn't it.

 

Google pictures of deployed airbags and you'll see the cover splits in 2 around the badge and the airbag comes out.

Ah ok, fair enough. Maybe I could look at some black leather dye, so it would be closer to the new leather colour on the outside.
