Title: Car Detailing Products at The Piston Works

Have you ever noticed that online shops selling car detailing products are rather a clinical affair, unusually aimed squarely at those more interested in the process than the vehicle itself.  Well, we're glad to say those days are gone, no longer does the petrolhead find themselves scratching their head wondering the difference between a citrus pre-cleaner and an all purpose cleaner or 'APC'.

Ladies and Gentleman, we introduce The Piston Works Emporium, a brick and mortar chain of stores and online shop dedicated to car detailing and car cleaning products chosen for their performance and practicality aimed squarely at car enthusiasts.  A carefully chosen collection of high quality car cleaning products and detailing brands with clear jargon free explanations of their use and application.

The Piston Works has chosen brands such as Bilt Hamber, ValetPRO, Chemical Guys and Nanolex that are well known for their no-nonsense approach to designing and producing award winning products.  Other brands have been introduced that build on their ethos of not stacking the shelves with white labeled products, but choosing UK brands aimed at making products that simply work and are a pleasure to use.  Brands such as Stjarnagloss and Angelwax

Because The Piston Works Emporium is a brick and mortar store, they are always on hand to speak to you in person.  A visit to the Emporium is a definite must, the comfortable fireside chairs and car related videos playing to entice you in before pursuing the shelves beautifully stocked with all of the car cleaning products clearly on display and accessible, be that accessories such as microfibre towels, wash mitts or polishing pads.  The guys at the Emporium will guide you through how to chose your products with your requirements in mind, whether you're a Porsche Cayman owner or indeed anything from a classic E-Type Jaguar to a brand new Ford Focus.  The Piston Works will ensure you're looked after and enjoy your experience, and one this is for sure, you certainly don't get the same level of service in Halfords!

Remember these guys next time you are stocking up on your Bilt Hamber Snow Foam, Angelwax H2GO or your ValetPRO Bilberry Wheel Cleaner

  • Anyone else started planning a return to track days?

The last couple of weeks I received some of the best news for ages, track days are reopening this month!  Specifically MSV and Castle Combe are opening under strict social distancing conditions that should make for an interesting day.  I got a bit carried away and immediately booked Brands Hatch 4 June, Castle Combe 12 June followed by Snetterton. However the prices have sky rocketed. Starting at £259 for a mid week Brands Indy track day!

    Lambda sensor extensions

Hi all. I recently fitted Topgear stainless headers with 200cel cats to my Cayman 987.1s. The fit and finished seemed great however I noticed a light ticking noise when pulling away slowly upto about 2.5k. My suspicion was manifold gaskets which looks to be the case so I'm going to try swapping to OEM gaskets.   Also after 100 or so miles its thrown a CEL. On inspection it looks like Lambda sensor and I've been advised extensions should help sort it and stop light coming on.

    Driver's window closing issue

Hi,   My window will lower all the way to the bottom, without issue. When I try to raise it, it will go about 3/4 of the way up, then drop to about 1/4. If I try again from that position, it will raise to 3/4 then stop. Only at the third attempt will it go all the way up. It does this whether I use one touch close or keep my finger on it. It still drops the few cm when opening/closing the door, as normal.   Anyone come across this problem and manage to resolve it? As I can cl

    Front coolant assembly replacement

Just thought I would pass on my experience of replacing my front coolant assembly on my 2007 2.7 Cayman. There is a youtube link at the bottom of this piece with a small video for anyone who is interested. I had a small leak on the lower pipe on the nearside of the car and had to top up my coolant every now and then. So i decided it was time to replace the front coolant hoses. I did this job over two days and what a experience it was !! I had researched over several days

  • 718 Cayman now available on your games console!

Well finally it’s arrived, you can now drive your favourite car whilst your P&J is tucked up in the garage.  Yes that’s right folks, on your games console (probably Xbox only).     Forza Horizon 4 has released screen shots of the latest edition to the game in the shape of a 718 GTS, looking pretty true to real life.       We look forward to hearing how it compares to the real thing and whether it’s been a faithful reproduction of the real thing.     Let us k
