Porsche vs. Tesla - The TAYCAN!

       (0 reviews)
Title: Porsche vs. Tesla - The TAYCAN!

Porsche has announced its 600-hp Tesla opponent will be called the Taycan.

This Friday Porsche introduced the official name of its new electric GT car that will take on Tesla's Model S marking 70 years of Porsche sports cars.

Taycan, roughly translated as "lively young horse," references the imagery at the heart of the Porsche crest, which features a leaping horse.

"Our new electric sports car is strong and dependable; it's a vehicle that can consistently cover long distances and that epitomizes freedom," Porsche chief Oliver Blume said in a statement.  The car is expected to be open for orders in early 2019, with deliveries being taken later that year.

Powered by two synchronous motors generating more than 600 hp, the Taycan can do 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in less than 3.5 seconds. The vehicle has a driving range of more than 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge under NEDC testing.

We will be keeping a very close eye on this car and welcome potential new Taycan owners here at CaymanOC.  Forget flat-4 shinnanigans, here's the future people, is it bright...?

Meanwhile, enjoy this official trailer from Porsche.

  • Posting in the for sale section

Hi, I’d like to post my 987 for sale advert though I don’t seem to have the option. Is anyone able to help point out the error of my ways? Thanks

Several porsches, but none wave back...

Having waved like I'm marshalling a Hercules transporter into land and grinned like a Cheshire Cat at any (not just Caymans) Porsche that I pass on the roads in Bucks, all to not even the feigntest acknowledgement of my 'same marque' road etiquette I have drawn a conclusion that other Porsche drivers are either:   1) Ignorant / rude / snobbish 2) Too cool to wave back 3) Myopic 4) Enjoying their drive so much and gripping their wheel so fiercely they just don't notice me

GAN GA+ Remap - Anyone tried it?

Hi guys, new to the club. I just bought a Cayman 987.1 2.7L and I'm looking into some simple mods. One thing that springs to mind is a remap and I came across this on design911: https://www.design911.com/Porsche-GAN-GAand-Tuning-Module/prod141925/   According to the GAN website, it's good for an additional 32bhp (https://www.gantuning.com/chiptuning/porsche/boxster-987-2004-11/2-7i-265hp/). I'm a little skeptical as it's an NA car and it seems far too good to be true.   Would

    Can I go this wide?

I'm hoping to get your thoughts if I can run 285/30/18 for my rear Cayman 987.2S lowered with B8 and R springs. I'm on BBS SR rims and have 7mm spacers on the front and 15mm spacers on the rear. Currently running PSS 245/4018 for the fronts and can get on a new set of PS2 285/430/18s to replace my end of life PS2 265/40/18s. Maybe its the covid supply chain issues and me not being on 19s but its really hard on my shores to get a good set of tires for now. Michelin still does not bring in the

  • Porsche Myths Busted: Car Insurance & N-rated Tyres

There will be many eyes rolling at the title I'm sure and much has been written on many an internet forum on the topic of N-rated tyres.   But I'm not here to enter the murky depths of whether an N-rated tyre has a different rubber compound to it's non-rated equivalent, nor am I going to make any claims as to the performance differences and whether by not using N-rated tyres you will find yourself in a ditch one day.     Today, I'm focussing on something more specific, and answering th
