Steering Wheel Change Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Over the past few days I have changed my steering wheel from a 987.1 multi-function to a 997.2 multi-function.

On the new wheel the multi-function buttons don't appear to be working, although they light up and the horn works.

Problem:

Not recognised any of the multi-function buttons have been pushed/rolled

Checked:

-Orange wire connector behind airbag

-Signle (earth) wire on airbag

Using:

Connects2 CTSPO005.2

Kenwood Android headunit

I hope that I have missed something obvious, any ideas guys? I assume the gateway won't need reprogramming again?

Thanks

I think the Connect 2 you currently have (CTSPO005.2) isn't compatible with Gen 2 steering wheels.
Connect CTSPO004.2 works for 997.2

From other online posts, for the swap you will also need the Gen 2 steering wheel module.
The risk with swapping the module is that you might lose the horn function, which will then need to be corrected with a scan tool (capable of flashing codes to Porsches).

Can’t help you I’m afraid, but I do like your body colour painted wheel. Did you get that done? I’ve never seen that on a cayman before. 🤩

Many thanks @Windymiller. I took the wheel apart and just got my local body shop to spray it, won't be to everyones taste... but I like it.

Many thanks @jasondcdyee for the reply. from looking at the Multi-Function Wheel Control Unit on Design911, the same part number is used for both .1 and .2

Connects2 support have come back to me with something to try, so I will give it a go and let you guys know how I get on cheers.

Wow! The white colour does pop out and looks unique.
I'm curious, I see you have a Manual car but why did you go for an automatic steering wheel with paddle shifts? Are you able to use the paddle shift or they dont work at all? thanks

Thanks @Shenshah. I wanted a multi-function wheel, and it just happened that I came in to a deal with tiptronic. I currently don't use the buttons, but I may have a project coming up that I will use them for... just need to monitor the CANBUS.
