Parr of Crawley - recommend?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just signed up here yesterday after becoming the very pleased owner of a Cayman 3.4S Gen 1 a couple of weeks ago - 2007 car,  53k miles  in immaculate condition with an excellent service history. It's my first Cayman and second Porsche (my first being a 1976 911 SC Couple that I owned 20 years ago!). I'm loving the Cayman so far - drove it down to Cornwall from Surrey at the weekend (300+ miles) - but am aware of potential problems with the model, primarily bore scoring, so I don't want to take any chances. With that in mind, I was thinking about getting it scoped to check for scoring and Parr in Crawley is my closest independent specialist. Would you guys recommend them? I'm based in Oxted, Surrey. If not Parr, who?

Congratulations  on the purchase, I've a 57 reg too, great car on all fronts.  I had the 111 point check and the bore scope BEFORE I purchased (normal wear on no.6 for the age/mileage, so passed with flying colours). To be fair, based on comments here and on PCGB, it's fewer than 1 in 10 gen 1's that appear to suffer the problem, so odds are strongly in your favour! There's Precision, Paragon, Phil Raby is also in Sussex, no doubt some others in Surrey.

Thanks Craiglm68. Funnily enough, I think Phil Raby is the same Phil Raby I knew from many years ago when I worked in magazine publishing. I just dropped him an email to say Hi, so thanks for mentioning him!

Hi Jackfrost, I have taken my Cayman S to Parr for an ECU remap, suspension track geometry, corner balancing and they also fixed a misfiring engine in the process. I would highly recommend them, they have very good motorsport/restoration and tuning experience and everything they have done on my car has been great.

Hope this helps

+1 for Parr... They sorted my geometry for track (slightly more -ve camber) They also fitted a new water pump & belts (developed a weep/slight rumble @60k miles!!)

Thinking I might get them to fit a lower temp stat/housing at some point :35_thinking:

They have a hub dyno too ?
