Wanderinwurzel
So as i'm new to the forum it's a great time to introduce my pride & joy to ya all. I picked it up mid jan 2019 after deciding to part out my modified mk4 golf turbo track car and sell my modified Audi A4 avant daily to get 1 car that would be as fun to drive as the golf but as refined as the Audi. After a couple months of searching, finding and missing out on a few decent examples I finally got my hands on a 55 plate Artic silver S with a spec I was happy with, extended leather on the dash and door cards (a must have for me), sports chrono, an upgraded Pioneer touch screen stereo and nav and a good history with just over 70k miles on. The car came with a 2 year warranty and the garage also put new rear tyres, front brakes, spark plugs & a gearbox oil change before I picked it up, and a 300 mile drive home to get acquainted, so happy days. 2 days in to swapping the quattro for the cayman and the beast from the east 2 blew through giving me an opportunity to see how they handled in the snow, with the mid engine balance and plenty of modulation through the brakes and throttle I was seriously impressed as it coped amazingly well, all the while thinking roll on the dry weather! 11 Months in to ownership I still find myself finding any excuse to get a new angle to admire it's stunning curves from...anyone else do this??🤣 Within a few months I had racked up 5k miles and the starter motor started screaming so whilst I took it in to my local specialist to have it replaced I opted to also have an oil & filter change, & it was bore scoped (all good in the bores). The coolant pipes were all replaced, along with the water pump as that was leaking & close to failing and at the same time, lastly I had the rear control arms replaced as the bushes were shot causing an annoying knock from the front end, so good to go for plenty more spirited drives up in to the dales, the lakes or peak district Next up a few subtle changes... Popular Post Wanderinwurzel
First up was a set of LED Spars to replace the stock fog lights ( I know the purists gonna hate but I like them) and they add a bit of protection to the front condensers and only cost around £200 shipped and took less than 30 mins or so to fit, and imo improve the front end look. Now as I always planned to get it on track I decided whilst getting the latest service done to change a few parts to aid reliability and longevity of braking performance so I opted to have a genuine X51 sump pan fitted with a better baffle arrangement, which turned out not to be a straight swap and needed the baffles modifying to sit properly but the guys at Unique Porsche figured it out and got it fitted with minimal fuss. Next up was making sure the brakes didn't fade through boiled fluid or warping the disc on track so full stainless hoses all round and high temp Millers brake fluid, clutch was also done at the same time & the front brake ducts were replaced with some 997/gt3 jobbies picked up from design 911 for less than a tenner 👍 will look into new pads before I get it on track next year but until then the standard pads that are in do a pretty good job on the road All things that were fairly cheap to do and largely unseen or noticeable from day to day driving but hopefully will keep things as they should be whilst testing it a bit more on track next year. sevenfourate
Welcome to the COC 🙂 Looking Good !! You've obviously got an ultimate goal for the car - and i'm sure plenty of plans to help you achieve that with the biggest smile possible.... So loving seeing and hearing what you've done so far. And looking forward to your further updates. When you first expecting to track it ?

Thanks, yeah at the moment the car is a daily car that's great fun for weekend and evening runs (done just over 12k miles in 1st 11 months) that will be used for a couple track days a year (reason for getting rid of the golf was that I didn't find I used it enough to justify 2 cars), but I will upgrade the standard car to something a little more track orientated as I go and learn what I like and don't like about it. I've had this 1 on track once so far at a wet Blyton park with the Tipec north west group in October, which was good fun to explore the rwd limits a little more than is safe on the road, but even then I felt the brakes were struggling to stand up to the job so that was 1st on the list to upgrade. I will be looking to get coilovers fitted over the winter and get the car set-up for more fast road as that's where its used most often. I want to get it out to the ring for a trackday next year and most likely oulton park (my local circuit) and Donnington or Anglesey but will see how things go and just enjoy driving it at every opportunity until then 😉

Thanks Ben, really pleased with it, such great cars out of the box but will refine it properly into my vision as I go or until I can afford a gt4 👍
Tozerman
Hi and welcome from me. Looks like you use it everyday and in all weather's. I admire that, I have OCD and can only use it during the warmer drier months. Keep the updates coming 😁

Keep the updates coming 😁 I bought it to be driven and there's little that gets in the way of that 👍 I am considering a little run around for the daily commute as the traffic is just getting worse but will still use the Cayman all year round and in all weathers.
