graham.reeds Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 What do members prefer: Pressed plates or flat plates I was thinking of using these: https://www.pressedplate.com/collections/uk-legal-plates Anyone have any experience with them? GR
Andy Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I've had pressed plates on a few cars, can really depend on the car and does change the look more than you'd think. My older VWs seemed to suit them quite well and I think they'd look good on the earlier Caymans, not perhaps the latest though? My E60 BMW which is my current daily came with the 4D plastic type plates... which are hugley expensive for what they are.. they were the first thing to go! They scream chavvy to me, so some nice plain standard plates were sought for hte replacement.

Flat acrylic plates for me with legal 3D font and are so much easier to clean. 👍
Windymiller Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Go for ‘classic’ black metal with silver pressed-letters… 🤪

Nope, those are personalised plates I had made and put on the car myself. Car came with the original registration plates on.

Dipdipdipam Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 I bought the plates from here https://www.myshowplates.com/ and installed myself. Just make sure you know what the legal requirements are and design your plate. 1
Dipdipdipam Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 To help get it flat, I backed the plates with some strong tape.
