Wheel bearing bolts sheared

That's a bummer!

I always use Ceratec on all my fasteners for this reason lol.

A bit of heat paired with some Easy Outs should hopefully do the trick 😬 Good luck fella 👍

Tried that... No joy. More heat has been ordered and should arrive tomorrow 🤣

So for the uninitiated (me) & Out of interest - what was the process here?

Do you heat up as this helps getting the snapped bolts out with easy outs?

Once out is the heat to melt a lower melting point metal (rather the metal than the manifold itself!) and fill the gap so you can tap a new threat into them?? I'm a bit confused by pic - the metal looks melted and the comment 'filled' looks like it's been filled like it has been cast..?

Never done this and interested.... seems like it might a useful skill for Porsche bolts in my future at some point...

You've got it 👌

However even with heat the bolts didn't shift. So I've drilled out the broken fastners, cleaned and  then refilled the holes with a lower melting alloy. I'll then redrill and tap to make good.

Thanks - very interesting.

I'm no mechanic, can service myself etc, but useful to know if I'm ever in this position and feel brave. Cheers.

Made up some guides to locate the bearing retainer and center/align the drill.

Some nice fabbing fella 👍

In a similar situ on another car I had to drill out using cobalt bits but I Helicoiled instead.
