rear spoiler

Finally got my rear spoiler back from my mates body shop and fitted it this morning. glad I had a plastic trim removal tool kit and took my time as removing the rear lid trim is tricky. there are two torx screws hidden behind  two little discreet trim covers inside the pull down handle, by the lock latch. it all came off without a single trim clip breaking so happy with that. after covering the lower lid in masking tape, I played around with various positions using the pop up spoiler as a prop. I wanted it as far back as I could mount it, just clearing the pop up by 10mm when deployed. its a bit un-nerving taking a drill to your pride and joy especially when you know that you are going to have to drill right through the frame as well, not just the lid skin.  20 mins later, outer holes deburred and painted and inner holes counterbored to take a 10mm socket. I bedded the spoiler on a bed of sealant and tightened the nuts up, replaced all the trims and  hovered the swarf up. very pleased with the result. It  took about 3 hours and several mugs of tea from start to finish.

its a £79 fibreglass cheapie from ebay. I couldn't afford a genuine R or GT item or the Jacqueamond that I really wanted, so looked around till I found one that looked about the right size and shape. for 80 quid is was worth the risk. I didn't need to alter the shape of the pedestals or the angle either to get a nice fit. the 4 mounting studs are not very straight, but that's what you would expect for the money. fibreglass is light weight  but of reasonable quality and the moulding  is pretty good too.
