DJMC
Just bought one of these: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Karcher-K4-Premium-Full-Control-Home/p/145270 I can buy the Karcher snow foam lance, or is there something better for my money? And which snow foam do I buy? Karcher's or other? And... will it work anyway!!?? I'm not convinced that it can clean without some manual intervention i.e. me and my wash mitt! Didn't buy the PW for the car, but I'm wondering if I should give foam a go? Waste of time????
Founder Beanoir™ Posted January 21, 2017 Founder Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I bought a foam lance from Slim's, but they're all much the same I think. If you buy the right foam (an active one) then yes you can use it as a contactless wash, I do it every other weekend in the winter. It's not a waste of time, it's washed and shiny and takes less time - great when it's cold outside. I use the bilt hamber one, and the their wheel cleaner. Buying the Karcher foam or any other rubbish they sell in Halfords will not work - I've tried them all. Edited January 21, 2017 by Beanoir
DJMC
Ah yes, I saw a Bilt Hamber video last night, below... That's the Karcher lance he's using. Is there a choice of BH foam to buy? Which one do you use Nick? Where best to buy it. Thanks.
Founder Beanoir™ Posted January 21, 2017 Founder Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I get mine from Slim's detailing supplies. It's the 'High Activity' one you want. http://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/cleaning/snow-foam-lances/bilt-hamber-auto-foam-snow-foam-5-litre.html You should get 10% off your first order online, but mention Cayman OC in your order they may not give you any more discount but I'm pushing for it with them! DJMC
Thanks Nick. I was reading a review of the High Activity BH Auto Foam, here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=290557 Post #25 gave the cheapest buy as: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/bilt-hamber-auto-foam.html £17 delivered. No need for discounts, that's the standard price. Ordered some now, and picked up a Karcher foam lance half price earlier at Halfords. Slims was £20.24 after the 10% fist order discount. Might be worth a mooch of Polishedbliss to see if anything else is cheap?
Founder Beanoir™ Posted January 22, 2017 Founder Share Posted January 22, 2017 Yes I used to use Polished Bliss, just prefer the guys at Slims these days, but either works. Did you get the wheel cleaner?

The Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner, no scrubbing or 'agitating' required and non-acidic - epic stuff. Get some!
DJMC
Used the BH snow foam over the weekend on my 981 and my wife's X1. Helped to loosen the grime and made subsequent washing less gritty. What I really need is an attachment for the pressure washer that has a right angle kink at the end so as to be able to get under the sills and power wash the crud off from the underneath. Otherwise, side blasting still doesn't get the mud and grit off and I end up with mud on my wash mitt making it tiresome to have to keep rinsing this off before carrying on washing. Anyone here have a recommendation for such a device? I found this: https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/vp-145-vario-power-jet-26432530.html#y94Y3sUkWwFK3joo.97 and this (which looks the same?): https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/mini-vp160-vario-power-jet-26432540.html#vvdUFdqI2ycXmRLV.97 This (which looks crap): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KARCHER-K-SERIES-UNDERBODY-LANCE-NON-OEM-BRASS-BAYONET-90-DEGREES-PLUS-NOZZLE-/262688849742?hash=item3d2979bf4e:m:mSeYl9sEf5-UuUqLc3cWHCA Or... this!: https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/chassis-cleaner-26425610.html#volayyGm0g8hmKD0.
Buggyjam
I was watching a Uk detailing channel on YouTube and the chap said basically the snowfoam lances with brass fittings and the plastic bottles are all actually one of only 2 different manufacturers not matter who you buy them off. One is a cheaper Chinese one but the others are called PA lances made in Italy. The big detailing suppliers just slap a sticker on and charge different prices lol! PMGPete
That is more or less true with the slight exception of a few lol
