MOT Failure - Cracked Fog Light ?

Recommended Posts

Is a cracked fog light reason to fail an MOT ?  Mine is in on Friday for the test and that is the only visible fault I can find. The glass is intact, but the lens is cracked.

Depends on the tester, i think it "should" be a fail. But i have cars MOT'd with a cracked fog. Probably depends if the MOT guy has had his morning coffee.

Personally i would risk it but be prepared to have it replaced

What Porker said, I think.  The rear is certainly covered by the MOT.  The fronts are easy enough to change on a 987.1, not sure about an R.

Easy to change - just haven't got round to getting one yet!  Design911 seem to have the best pricing that I can find. Thanks all for the feedback.

if the lens is covered with super sellotape, the wide sticky clear lens repair tape, you wont risk a failing if the glass breaks and leaves jagged edges which might be considered "dangerous bodywork". As stated correctly previously, front fogs are not a MOT requirement. even at the rear, whilst some cars have 2, you must have a working offside (rhs)rear foglight.
