PDK THE ONLY WAY
Has anyone else had the wheel bolts work loose? had track day, stopped to look things over , rear wheel bolts had became loose, I think the muppet at the tyre shop never used a torque wrench with the correct setting,
Aaron
I think Porsche increased the torque setting from 120 to 160 ft/lbs at some point. Can't recall when, specifically. But one can imagine there's a reason why they increased it.
Woodhouse
Our gen 1 Caymans are 130 Nm / 96 ft lbs but our new 981 is 160 Nm / 118 ft lbs.
extanker
a few days before track time i always went through a pretty entailed check list and lug/wheel bolts were on it ,heck every track i went to sans drag racing had a tech inspection and even checked the bolts too .One question are the bolts OEM with no spacers because after market titanium have a service life ? PDK THE ONLY WAY
Thanks for reply, yes everything is original, I think the fact porsche have officially changed the recommended torque settings, is an indication that there maybe a design issue,
twopointnine
The manual for my 2011 3.4S says torque to 130 Nm (96 ft/lb) and to apply a thin coat of Optimoly TA (aluminium paste) to the thread and between the bolt head and moveable spherical cap ring. The bearing surface of the spherical cap facing the wheel must not be greased.
