Martin Hamilton
Currently looking at Gen 1 Cayman S cars as my present car is due to go back at end of lease - seems I only did 5000 miles in 3 years so the next owner is going to love it I just want to buy something outright and with my extreme low mileage not go too crazy so the Cayman S 987 seems to fit the bill - also want something I can actually work on and get my hand dirty Currently reading up on bore scoring and IMS failures - seems like fun hopefully I’ll find something soon
Bushman
welcome aboard Martin. good luck with the search. don't get hung up on IMS or bore scoring, its still, percentage wise, quite rare.
Founder Popular Post Beanoir™ Posted January 22, 2019 Founder Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2019 Welcome to the OC Martin! As Steve says, IMS and bore scoring are so rare it shouldn't be a major consideration. The other option is to buy a gen 2 car, but the difference in price is more than a new engine would cost you in the gen 1 if it went pop.
