Founder Popular Post Beanoir™ Posted November 17, 2015 Founder Popular Post Share Posted November 17, 2015 I've had my R for nearly 12 months now, but previously had a Gen1 Cayman S for 2 years which I thoroughly enjoyed. So last December, 3 days before Christmas I picked up my Cayman R from Paragon GB. The car was pristine, 9k miles and had the spec (pretty much) that I wanted. Carrara White PCM Ipod Connectivity Bucket Seats Rear Parking Sensors Black Spyder Wheels I took a while to appreciate the car I have to say, or more to the point the differences over and above the Cayman S. But after putting a few miles on the car it became apparent that the car is far greater than the sum of it's parts IMO. Since December i've carried out only a couple of modifications. First was to have 7mm spacers fitted to the front including longer wheel bolts, at the same time I had the geometry set to give maximum camber at the front. I wanted to give the rear end a bit more freedom as I like to drive on the throttle and was getting a bit frustrated that I couldn't as much as I was used to. The spacers and geo really made a difference and livened the car up just enough. Another 'mod' was the addition of a seat cushion, which my dear other half made for the passenger seat. The buckets don't have any height adjustment. Made and eventually covered in matching alcantara. I then got a bit distracted after purchasing a new daily driver... Back on the R, I took the car on a Petrolhead Nirvana trip this summer which involved a week of spirited driving around the alps in the sun, it was fantastic to get away with a great bunch of people and really got to test the car closer to it's limits. Next on the list is a new set of tyres, wouldn't mind trying either the Micheline Super Sport of some Cup2, not decided yet. I also 'need' a new exhaust, as the only thing missing from my list when I bought the car was the PSE. So it's either that or trying the Carnewal...

Founder Beanoir™ Posted February 10, 2016 Author Founder Share Posted February 10, 2016 I think I replied to that one Jon, but checked and Friday evening is good for me! I'll PM you my phone number and address etc. Exhaust is a Carneal GT made from new Cayman R mufflers. http://www.carnewal.com/products/P87/p87026/P87-2-Carnewal-GT-exhaust-made-from-new-Cayman-R-mufflers Gert doesn't do the exhaust on an exchange basis for the CR like for other models unfortunately but understandable given there aren't many around. Getting it fitted Friday morning at Paragon
Masher964
Just saw a reference to the A507... That's close to me. Does that mean there are two Cayman R owners in the area? Just got mine at the tail end of last year so still have not really driven it on dry roads! Loving the feel of it though.

I'm at the Shillington/Shefford/Hitchin end of the A507. Quite often take a bit of a blast up towards Buntingford and back, and when i'm feeling like I need longer drive then I go on all the way to Finchingfield in Essex through the villages and back roads, really great drive...might pop out now in fact I've mapped the route actually. Whereabouts are you?
Masher964
I'm at the other end of the A507, Buntingford. You are right that it is a nice road and there are worse places to end a run than Finchingfield too. Bit of a bikers magnet the pub there!
Founder Beanoir™ Posted February 10, 2016 Author Founder Share Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) Ah ok, well if you do come along on the 27th then sure lets convoy up there, A507 the other way basically! I can meet you at Baldock or somewhere like that. What CR have you got, another white one or slightly more imaginative in your choice of colour than I was!? Masher964
Sounds like a plan. I've got a CR manual in Peridot with PSE, buckets, spyders, PCM, SS, chrono and a nice leather dash. I wouldn't say it's more imaginative - perhaps more 'marmite' Can't wait for some better weather to really get a feel for the car.
