Alan W
Lacking some desirable options but a reasonable price, and worthwhile saving, if you can live without them.
Alan W
I’ve just noticed the mileage in the description is 40,000 whilst the photo of the odometer shows 53,448 miles. Can't tell if it's the same car but, if it is, maybe it's not so good value after all if the odometer reading is correct.

Thanks, Alan W Morning Alan, I've recently joined the club of owning a 987.2 and thoroughly loving the drive. I purchased mine from JR Motor Company in Coventry, run and owned by a chap called Ian, he's absolutely sound. He's got a beautiful array of cars available, sure there must be something that would tickle your fancy, service really was second to none. I'll certainly be going back if and when I decide I want an upgrade. Regards, Dan

Glad to hear you had a good experience with them and I’ll drop them an email with the details of the Cayman I’m after. I had a look at their website and there is a lovely one owner 987.2 in Meteor Grey with a stone grey leather interior. I love that colour combination but the car is manual and the mileage higher than I want, unfortunately. I remember flying down to London from Glasgow a few years ago to look at a similar colour car although the mileage was considerably less (<10k). I was advised the paint was all original but discovered the rear quarter panel had been repaired and painted. Even the dealer didn’t know and phoned the owner who admitted a motorcyclist had hit it! However, the dealer refunded my travelling expenses as he had assured me the paint was all original which was a nice gesture that not everyone would do these days. It was still a wasted journey but at least it didn’t cost me. 😀 Regards, Alan
Blissya
Trouble with something low mileage is you’ll be more worried about driving and enjoying it as in doing so just wipes out the premium paid. All of the plastic and rubber bits will have aged the same. Well engineered cars should handle a couple of hundred thousand miles, think of all those fun road trips 🥳
Gingybreadman
I did have a quick look at that Meteor grey one myself, does look the part, not sure I could cope with the grey interior though, I've got the full black leather Porsche embossed seats, they don't come with many extras but it's nice when they have the odd one thrown in. I bought mine with 75k on the clock, its 50/50 whether its the Cayman or the motorbike that comes out in the decent weather, depends if the Mrs wants to come out and play or not. It's got its place covered in the garage so over the years the somewhat high mileage now, won't be so bad in a few years time... is my train of thought anyway. Very best of luck finding the right 987 for you! If Ian does find you one, say I sent you and he may throw in a nice new Porsche key ring for you Dan

They describe nearly all their cars as 'huge spec' even when they are poverty spec. Like this one: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202208188916151 'Huge spec' and yet doesn't have most of the good stuff, has none of the following: PASM Bose Chrono Xenons Extended leather Sports seats Absolutely typical of the ads from that seller / standard practice. Not a really major deal, but for me makes the outfit come across a bit low-rent / sleazy. None of the outlets with really good reps do that kind of thing. You wouldn't get Camerons / Ashgood / 911V doing that. Don't find that approach honest

I don’t have a need to do more than that and therefore they stay low mileage and retain their value at the same time. We are all different and have our own priorities and preferences and that’s what makes the world go round. 1

A lot of buyers fall for it because they simply don't really know what "toys" a Porsche could have, they simply want a Porsche just so they can say they have one. I don't understand how can people think JR is a good dealer when this approach is misleading and dishonest!

Alan W
'Soup of the day' is a very nice sounding, high specification, low mileage (35k), good history Porsche Cayman S in Speed Yellow at Cameron Porsche: https://www.cameronsportscars.com/vehicle-details/used-porsche-cayman-987-3-4-s-for-sale-in-chippenham-south-gloucestershire-u1382/
B21ONY
Just been suggested this Forum from Facebook and this thread looked like a good one to comment on. We're after an ideally Peridot Cayman R with buckets. If anyone knows of one for sale or one coming up for sale soon please let me know! The Red one from Ash Goods is a stunner but holding out for that Peridot. We currently have a Boxster Spyder with incredible spec if anyone is looking to change into one. You might be better posting in the dedicated Cayman R Chat topic on COC. 😉 Also have a look at the Cayman R Chat Thread on Pistonheads where you will see more cars for sale and links to same. 👍

User AndyP is selling his Peridot R See his post Saturday 3rd September on this thread It's Peridot, manual, sports exhaust, sport chrono, carbon buckets, full OPC service history (the last one in June of this year), just under 14k miles, black wheels. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=231&t=1577781&i=10920
B21ONY
Thanks Alan & Julian! Hopefully we can find our unicorn Will check out that post on Piston Heads and see if the car is still available. However with such low miles & fab spec I expect it to be really up there in price. Peridot on it's own seems to demand quite a high premium.

No problem, glad to assist with the search. 🙂 It’s not really Peridot that demands a premium but the buckets, Spyder wheels, sports exhaust etc which the above car identified by Julian has. The low mileage and OPC history add to the premium you will pay and this car will be top end in the mid £40k’s if bought privately and towards £50k if being sold by a Specialist in my opinion. One thing I have noted of late is that A/C is a sought after option and if the car doesn’t have it the car can hang about and be slow to sell - something to consider perhaps for potential resale at a later date. Hope the above helps and good luck finding a nice car. 👍
Alan W
Just to add to my post above that the Sports Chrono and Short Shift are other desirable R options but can be retrofitted by an OPC if they weren’t optioned when the car was new. Alan W
Well I’m a bit disappointed that despite sending emails to the below Porsche Specialists 10 days ago (all recommended on this Forum) with details of the Cayman I’m looking for I’m still waiting for an acknowledgement or better still some form of reply: Redline, Williams Crawford, Cridfords and Flat Six Classics Are Porsche sales that easy to come by that my interest and potential custom (up to £30k spend) can be ignored or am I right to be disappointed with these vendors? An enquiry was sent over 48 hours ago about a car being widely advertised on a few different websites (Piston heads, Car & Classic etc) and also remains unanswered. Is this typical or am I expecting too much? Your thoughts and experiences appreciated guys and gals! Alan W
