Founder Popular Post Beanoir™ Posted June 19, 2016 Founder Popular Post Share Posted June 19, 2016 The headlights on my CR have developed a crazed effect across the tops of the lens and I've no idea how it's happened but it's been getting worse and worse and looked a bit scruffy. I don't use a high power jet wash on the car anyway for fear of removing the body decals, and don't use anything abrasive to clean it with. I had in the past used a headlight lens kit on another car and decided that I would have a go with what I already had in the garage. The headlights were looking like this... I used a microfibre cloth pad to apply some Faracla G3 scratch remover. It's not too harsh I've found in the past, and far less abrasive than some others. The G3 is quite a thick compound though so I used a spray bottle to let it down a bit. I applied this 3 times, wiping away the residue each time. At this point the scratches were still visible but much finer and more of a haze. I then used a finer polish, just some Auto Glym Resin Polish. Repeated the polishing a couple of times then buffed with a clean microfibre towel. I'm pleased with the result, if I did it again then I might remove he headlights and do the job on the bench. Avoids having to clean up polish on the area of the car around the headlights - you can see in the photo below I've still got some polish in the gap to clean off!
PhilCS
Get some film on them once you've finished the polishing job, protects them from UV and scratches. Good work!
