Soup of the day, though their claim that it is "Possibly the best 987 Cayman S in the UK" is a bit of a reach!

Anyone interested in that car would be well advised to get a PPI done at a reputable specialist and ensure the bores are scoped.  😉

Also, a 2.9 PDK will be just as quick as a 3.4 gen1 manual.....

Similar against the clock due to quick gear changes, but actually in gear the gen 1 feels a fair bit quicker. Which is what really matters. How quick a car feels when you put your foot down and rev it out through a gear.

Yes, a shame as it's a nice car but certainly not a HUGE specn., if anything it looks pretty basic to me.  🙄

The HUGE list of factory options itemised in the description fails to mention that the black dials are standard, the sports steering wheel is also standard and Xenon lights are NOT fitted!  ☹️

At least they got the colour right (Carrara white) unlike a lot of dealers who think it's Carrera.

That dealer lists all of their poverty spec cars as HUGE spec. Not sure who they think they are fooling. That white car has almost nothing. No Xenons. No Bose. No extender leather. No PCM. No PASM. No Chrono. No PSE. Almost nowt.

Totally agree with Martin here,  this really does annoy me as i found this was a pita when i was looking for my car.  Trawling through the pics just to find it's got nada!!

I'm pretty sure people buying used porsches know what they are looking at.  Ok new cars on pcp agreements etc attract many badge whores that don't care what engine/spec/model even, but not on the used market so much.

The other thing i found a lot of non specialist places advertising spec it didn't have.  Pse was advertised as it had shiny tips/pasm added " because they all have it" apparently. Stuff like that!!!

If the buyer does homework you'd think the seller should.

The most annoying thing for me that a dealer lists as an attractive option is the pcm head unit and sat nav, god the sound quality is garbage and the nav is similar too an old Atari.

This is nothing compared to what I've recently found while browsing for a new daily (BMW 4 series coupe). None of the dealers add any proof (iDrive screenshot) or info (date/mileage) of when the car was serviced in the description.  Like you have to ring them and they'll eventually call you back as they need to check first.....like how do you even think of listing a car for sale not knowing about its service history??? It's a vital info yet most people simply read the "full service history" and think that's ok!

I've also noticed since 90% new cars are pcp/lease etc people don't service them (not their problem since they'll hand them back anyway). Ridicolous....

Yeah they are some of the worst pictures I've seen recently, it will also be 2 owners not 1 as stated... they guy sellling it and the lady who owned it beforehand.

Not entirely convinced that due to a recession reducing factory output will make his one a future classic anymore than anyother Cayman out there..... putting so much effort into a advert BS a few pictures of the rest of the car wouldn't have done the job much better.

Yes, and I would venture that two of the photos are of the car in the OPC when it was bought last year and only the photo in the parking space is of the car recently.

I can see that car being for sale for a while!

@ Ummanipadmeum and Worton

How are you guys getting on in your search for a Cayman?

Have you viewed any cars yet and what have your experiences been so far?

If anyone is interested in a Cayman S 2010 987.2 I'll be listing mine soon.

63000 miles (will be adding to it) I'm moving house and need a bit of extra cash.

Manual gearbox. Brand new clutch (150miles ago)

Basalt black with black leather interior (not extended) heated seats and the Panasonic infotainment upgrade thing.

Anything around 24k would be fair looking at prices on auto trader

Thanks for asking - I viewed `couple of cars before choosing the one with the best history and equipment (happy coincidence).  It's a '10 GT Silver 987.2 2.9 PDK with PASM, Sport and Sport+ (no Disney+ though!) Chrono, Sports Seats etc.  It has more miles that I had hoped for but wears them well, looks/drives like a car half its age and like I said has a very good history with invoices for all the work done in the last six years and service evidence for the earlier period.

I'm still getting to know it but very pleased with the ride quality with the PASM in normal.  The PDK transmission is very good too provided you don't confuse it and ask it for an upshift when it's expecting a a downshift or vice-versa - then you get a long(er) shift as it has to disengage the preselected gear and select the one you're asking for which altogether takes almost as long as a manual shift!  The Sport mode is great to wake the car up without having to revert to 'manual' mode although Sport+ is unnecessary really.  One minor gripe is that when converted to RHD the PDK gear lever wasn't mirrored so the manual mode is further away from the driver rather than closer...

Overall I'm impressed with the Cayman - refined unless you're over 6k rpm and quick enough for road use without being frustratingly fast if you know what I mean?

Great news you’ve found a car so quickly and glad you’re very pleased with it!  Sounds like it is pretty well optioned and GT Silver is a relatively rare colour.

Thanks for sharing.

P.S. We need photos please.  😉

P.P.S. You need to update ‘My Ride’ in your profile.  😜
