@jaketame : I’d be really interested in how these bulbs work out for you. Do keep us all posted please !

I think renewing the ‘yellow’ interior especially  / stock headlight bulbs on a 987 to something brighter (Whiter) and fresher looking would be a great upgrade: and pull it forward and modernise it quite a few years....

Just waiting on the bulbs still but will have them tomorrow so will be swapping fronts out. Looking for an LED amber bulb for indicators on front and side if anyone knows what type they are?

also interested in replacing rear bulbs to leds too, was following the Mrs yesterday and indicator is not as bright as today’s standards go.

Ok so where am I up too...!

I have a 2010 987.2, I have managed to do the following today,

Low Beam, Fog Lights, Side Indicator. I had issues with the high beam due to space issues.

Low Beam - H7 Nighteye - Fitted nice and easily

Buy -  Nighteye 72W 9000LM H7 LED Canbus error free Car Headlight KIT 6500K Bulbs White (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153595605481)

High Beam - H8 Nighteye - Too long, existing bulb is 60mm yet nighteye bulb is close to 80mm Not enough room to fit or squeeze in. I won’t link for now. This is the same fitting type as fog light which is H11 but this bulb also was too long to fit in.

Fog Lights - H11 Nighteye - Fitted easily and was fast.
Ebay - NIGHTEYE H11/H8/H9 LED Fog Light Daytime Bulbs Lamp Replace Halogen HID 160W (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183237161195)

Side Indicators - W5W (T10) - Striaght swap and no errors.
Amazon - LncBoc T10 Canbus LED Bulbs 501... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QFV9KF3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Front Main Indiciators - I took these out and took pictures, not sure on fitment type so will check with local independent on how to swap out.

Just adding side indicator bulb pictures.... Looking into front indicator it would appear to be the same bulb type so will go and test as I have two spare from the sides.

I can visually see the increased brightness during daytime too!

Ok so the two bulbs I ordered one was 70mm and the other was 72mm but a different shape.

neither fit, I suspect max depth can be around 65mm but will have another look for something that short.

Nighteye is now branded NovSight.

Front Indiciator Bulb’s also gave errors permanently on the dash so they came out but so much brighter!

Can you list what bulbs you have used that have worked (and you still have in) and which you have tried and have not worked?

Front H9 Main Beam

I really don't think there are any LED bulbs that are going to fit in here.

I've tried unbranded Chinese from Amazon/Ebay and too many to list but all are too long.

I've tried Novsight/Nighteye and these are also too long, a Novsight one is 70mm and thats the shortest LED Headlight I can find.

The filament is the same as foglight so I'm wondering if fitting this in it would be ok? Bulbs are listed different Ie Headlight or Foglight but Foglight bulbs seem to be smaller.

Other than that I think the only option is a higher spec halogen that is closer to 6K. There are a couple from Osram/Philips that do 5K

Why the white bulbs in the side indicators and not orange bulbs?

I am considering if I buy 2 sets of the second link you provided for both the front and side. Or don't worry about LED and stick with Halogen and get OSRAM Diadem Chrome PY21W to get rid of the fried egg look.

I'm really not good at link copying today!

  • 4 weeks later...

Has anyone tried these for the full-beam?

I think they're about 7mm shorter than the other Novsight ones... might squeeze in. It uses a heatsink instead of a fan though

edit: or these, even shorter? 110w though, are the full-beam supposed to be 72w?

edit (again!): or these... 55m long, 20mm less than the original nighteye ones I tried

Anything over 65mm will be too long. I did find these but yet to purhcase to test. Seller said they are canbus compatible but if issues then there is an canbus adapter.

I don't mind. Doing, done

Now to just find LED Front Indicators. HY21W which seem rare
