Interior bulb list

Recommended Posts

Hi I have been considering changing my interior bulbs for LEDs

Struggling to get a definitive list of which type and quantity of bulbs I need.

I have seen a list no Boxa.net http://www.boxa.net/forum/topic/68600-how-to-fit-987-interior-and-number-plate-leds/ bit it is missing the map bulbs.

I could take the lights appart to find out, but I was keen to order the bulbs first then take the lights apart to fit them.

Has anybody here done a full interior light upgrade to LED's?  Are Ebay bulbs OK to use?

How do you rate them? Are they any good?

Also did you have a full set of bulbs. I was looking at that set but I am not sure it has all the interior lights

I did all interior bulbs in Gen1, great mod! Although I used the Osram bulbs, really bright and white. Lights above the rear view mirror are a pig to get out, you don't need to take the perspex housing apart to get in and out if you use the Osram low profile bulbs.

These say 'yellow' so are they warmer in colour temperature or pure white like a 5000K HID headlight?

@Spykee did you fit that kit to Gen2? Also would you recommend it? I was looking at that kit.

You happy with the brightness and colour Martin? I plan to start with the interior lights. Then do the boot and frunk.

I am not as fuss about the number plates and sun visor lights. Any reason you chose different 36mm for the sun visors compared to the number plate lights.

If you recommend W5W T10's you used and had no issues, I will start there.

Having lots of issues uploading images. Will have to do tomorrow now.

I have 10MB of images and getting lots of errors when pasting here. I might host them somewhere else and just link to them...

IMGUR is easy and free for external picture hosting. Unlike many-many other's who now charge, won't let you access old photos until you pay, have upload limits etc etc

Google photo album. I used to use Imgur until they made their mobile app rubbish.

First 3 photos are stock blubs. 4th image is a comparison. Last 4 images are LED bulbs.

People said it would take 20mins, but for me it took over an hour. The hardest part was the map lights, I could not get the light clips pushed in enough to release the light. Got there in the end.

Next job is the boot and frunk lights.

thanks for those, you can really see the difference!

I ordered on Friday from Amazon and they arrived yesterday but Mrs took the car to work today so will do tomorrow now. I got the trunk and frunk ones too.

I did not use the same bulbs as others have listed on here. I used a cheap 10 pack of Auxito T10 LEDs from eBay. Not the cheapest I could find, but pleased with the results.

Now to order the 42mm bulbs for the other lights. I will use the link Martin posted.

Valid point ref Imgur app. I don't use a mobile for this - so didn't realise. ***Is it not possible to direct host on a forum; rather than having to just post the link using Google ?

The lighting in the image of yours below is stunning. Compared to stock anway !! Transformed it hugely and nicely dragged it into modern times.

Not desperate as my car is SORN'd....but really need to get my butt in gear and get prepped after seeing this....

I’ve started to do mine now... I attempted the centre top two but couldn’t figure out how to change them 🤦‍♂️

If was dark while changing them and couldn’t quite get the under feet ones done either but frunk, trunk, doors where done.
