mkemp590
Hey all, I’ve got a clanking noise coming from the rear (seems like drivers side). It’s not clunky, but more clanking. Sounds like a wrench on a string being dropped and dragged. Happens at low speeds accelerating and stopping. Doesn’t seem to happen going over bumps. Any ideas? extanker
get it up on a lift ......way too many things it could be .........from dragging a wrench on a string to loose axle flange bolts .......

mkemp590
The only thing I noticed on the lift is the right side cat makes some noise when hit. The balancing weight on the transmission has play in it too. Everything else seems solid and nothing looks out of place or loose.
Windymiller
Do you have PSE? if you do and youre saying one of your silencers / mufflers is ‘rattling’ it could be a PSE valve not closing fully when PSE is off and therefore the valve ‘flutters’, which makes an awful mechanical noise (I’ve had it on mine previously). if you have PSE then see if the noise occurs when pse is on (light illuminated on the button) and/or off (light extinguished). if it’s the valve then you’d likely have the noise when PSE is off (valve is subjected to a vacuum to try to close it), but not have the noise when PSE is on (valve not subject to a vacuum and thus in a relaxed / open state). obviously of you don’t have PSE you can ignore all of the above. 🙄

Nothing visibly loose, and doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason other than going slowly. Ben
I am no mechanic, but could it also be worth checking the rear brake pads / discs , might be something sticking / dragging - also the handbrake shoes inside the rear hub, mine stuck recently and made a right racket - turned out one had also broken inside the hub so got both sides replaced. I could be completely wrong though
