FLAT STICK
Hi there Driving the car home tonight on an 11 mile journey approximately 1 mile from home, the car started missing and tapping. There is no smoke at all and the oil level is fine. Any ideas please? Thanks Dean
Mavrik
Possibly plug/coils breaking down? Engine temp ok???
FLAT STICK
Hi Mavrik Thanks. The engine temperature is fine but the car has just put an engine check light on and the visit workshop message. We've parked it up and I've just switched the engine on and what sounds like an engine fan has also come on! Had new coil and plugs fitted in September 2018 but not Porsche ones - done about 2000 miles or so since then. Dean
Aaron
Pull the code and see what's being generated. It should give a good indication of what the issue is.
FLAT STICK
Cheers for the replies, I am hoping its just a coil pack, but just panicked that it is bore score!!!!! Dean
extanker
you do not hear bore score ,you can hear a collapsed lifter .............i would not drive it but tow it to your trusted shop ......good luck
Mavrik
@FLAT STICK The engine compartment fan coming on isn't really an issue imo... It comes on when the engine bay compartment reaches a pre-determined temp. It can come on if you've recently parked up/putting into a closed garage etc. The fan does seem to have a mind of its own! If you have a CEL on the dash the fault code will indicate which system has been affected. You'll need to read the fault code with a suitable OBD2 reader etc (mobile specialist or dealer?) Mavrik
@FLAT STICK The ticking noise you mentioned could also be the VarioCam solenoid actuator ... Think you will defo need to get a diagnostic test using an OBD2/PIWIS or Durametric
FLAT STICK
HI all, Well spoke with Jasmine Porsche at Nelson and they are coming to collect tomoz and take it in for me, after a chat on the phone they said the chance of bore score are minute but will give it a good look for me but said it will more likely be a coil pack, fingers crossed!!! They are also going to change the brake fluid and check the intermittent rear wiper fault, if my engine is not fucked lol So sorry Gert it will be next month by the looks of things that I order an GT exhaust of you Dean
