Had a go at Painting the Calipers

Finally got warm enough weather for me to have a go at this on Saturday

Was quite windy though!

Some pics of pre/post and during..  only 1/4 done so far.

Pretty please consider I've never sprayed anything in my life.

I thought if I mess it up I can pay someone to powder coat and do properly.

Hope you find interesting.

Looks good fella... I'm assuming you had base calipers?

I had red S calipers and I painted/sprayed mine yellow as I feel it compliments the Lapis Blue coachwork (not because I wanted folk to think I had PCCB)

The yanks on the forums lost their purist mofo minds lol.

F**k the haters, I say lol

I like to be different so I used Brembo caliper decals 😁

I used Motip Pro Enamel spray that has a nice fan nozzle for good coverage... Prep & masking is key!

Yes - stock calipers, cleaned back to bare metal - the silver looks OK but I wanted red as a contrast. I used this stuff:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007AFLA2U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which went on nice even when under the control of a first timer like me, then the decals then a few coats of clear lacquer.

You said it right there - Prep and Masking is the key.  So much time masking...  but pleased I did - The nozzle on the can got stuck and sprayed paint every where - if I hadn't gone mad with the masking it could have hit the rear panels..

And yes - there will be haters for the yellow not being ceramic but like you say..  your car. do what you want to it.

Your car looks really nice, blue and yellow is awesome; with the livery and those wheels is a superb combination.

How long has your paint been on? How well have they held up against road grime and break dust?

Very good job. Do you have a recommendation for the supply of the decal, and what clear lacquer did you use?

Nice job that!

There was a white 718 GT4 at Caffeine & Machine at the weekend, an OC member's car actually.  The PCCBs had been specced from factory with black callipers which I quite liked, very subtle.

I refinished my calipers and wheels about 18months ago and also fitted stainless braided lines and a GT3 master cylinder.

Paint has held up well with zero chipping/fading... Obviously proper stripping & powder coating is gonna be more durable but I'm pleased I managed to do it all myself lol...

2 down.. 2 to go.

It was so cold and windy at the weekend, took longer to dry between coats and I messed up the decals, pulled off paint and had to re-spray it twice…   Will wait for warmer weather for the next two.

But worth the effort.

Like you say, "f...orget the haters!'. Yellow looks great. I'm thinking of doing the same on mine. I've never been fan or red callipers just from personal preference so figured I'd get a rebuild and repaint at the same time.

Loving the wheels too.

-----------

I used my power drill & Dremel with attachments and various grades of wet'n'dry to remove the pc/paint.

Took ages but as I mentioned, thorough prep pays off imo.

I polished the lips of the wheels and used a 2k rattle can for the inner spoked section & also replaced the faux split rim fasteners... Finished off with clear petrol resistant lacquer.

The wheels are Speedline RS 3.6 reps (as seen in the original Bad Boys film on the 964T) made by Veloce UK...
