Popular Post Equinox
Was down at Forge Action Day at Castle Combe last weekend on the show and shine. Decided to get the custom exhaust noise tested while I was there and was amazed to find out it passed the noise limit. So looks like It's getting booked in for some more track day action once Ive replaced the front coolant hoses and water pump thats just started to weep slightly.
Popular Post Equinox
Benn one of those days today. Cars been running rough with lots of hunting at idle. Put it down to a faulty AOS so took the plunge to replace it. Was a bit of a pig to get out but it seems to have fixed the issues, fingers crossed And a few picture from GTi Festival at Santa Pod last weekend
Founder Beanoir™ Posted October 15, 2016 Founder Share Posted October 15, 2016 What's involved in replacing that? Does it take long?

There isn't much you have to remove, there is just stuff that makes it easier to work around if you do. I removed the MAF, throttle body and intake to clean them as a faulty AOS usually chucks oil over these components so its best to clean them all at this time. Then there is a few of those ribbed plastic hoses that have to be disconnected from the AOS on the right of the picture. Then the AOS is held in by 2 torx bolts that are a bit fiddly to get to so make sure you have some decent socket extensions. Final bit is on the bottom of it so hard to reach with anything really. But its a silicone pipe (boot) thats held onto a spigot on the block and the bottom of the AOS by a couple of spring clamps. Would be much easier with a proper spring clamp removal tool as you just have to latch it onto each side and then open the clamp up. I found that if i slide the hose with the clamp in place off the bottom of the AOS and then removed the pipe separately, that this was the easiest way to do it without that tool. The lower spring clamp to the block I then replaced with a standard jubilee clip so I could reinstall everything and make it easier for the future as the AOS is prone to go especially on track / driven hard cars. I started at 9 and had got everything back together and on the car by 12. And i'd recommend getting some replacement plastic ribbed vent hoses as these become really brittle over time due to the oil vapour flowing through them.
Equinox
Took delivery of a few new parts this month. I have replaced the standard air filter with one from ITG, Taken delivery of a race splitter from Joe Toth as well as Dive planes. These match the rear diffuser I purchased last year. Fitment on the Joe Toth bits were near on perfect and moulded to exactly the shape of the bumper. Tabs on the back matched the OEM fixing locations and it clipped into the groove the original bits slotted into. Really loving this now. Anyone interested in the front splitter, dive planes or rear diffuser hit me up as I'm in talks with Joe to see about importing a bulk buy of 10+ pieces to bring the price per part down. As shipping and import taxes add almost on over the cost of the part just to ship them. Will be at the meet on the 5th for anyone wanting to take a look at the quality.
Equinox
Another small change to the Cayman. Have added a side skirt extension to tie in more with the Joe Toth splitter.
Liongolfer
Those wheels are really nice. Love the low aggressive profile although you must be scraping a lot. I've got lots of humps here so have decided to stay of normal ride height and 18s. Makes for a great daily driver with some oomph when I want some. I have owned very very low cars prior to this which would kiss the tarmac on slightly cambered roads, so very used to taking certain routes and being able to tell exactly what the car will and wont go over. If anything this has been a breath of fresh air not having to worry as much
Andy
Think the new bits really tie in well with the rest of the car, looked a little rear end heavy on the mods perhaps before, so this has really balanced it out now. Generally I'm not a huge fan of body styling mods, but this does sit well, the black body color helps it allot.

I too was looking at the early photos just now and thinking "I like the side skirts, but they don't quite line up with the front spoiler." Now they do!! Great minds... I guess the body mods are good for the track. Not so much fun on the road, as has been said.
Popular Post Equinox
Came across the lonely looking Cayman someone had traded into webuyanycar(for£5) on route to our Storage unit at work today. Couldn't help getting a modified vs standard shot.

Best option is to punt it onto somebody like WeBuyAnyCar who aren't going to do the same rigorous checks that a private buyer or Porsche dealer would do, and take a bit of a loss. Car will probably end up at auction and be offloaded onto a dealer who's going to expecting the worst. Nice work on the car by the way, I'm a fan of most of the modifications you've done and those wheels look great! Popular Post Equinox
So pretty smallish update. I was invited to Spring Action Day at Castle Combe last weekend. This was by the people who run/sponsor the event and did the exhaust work on my Cayman, Infinity Exhausts. Wanted to get a few bits done that had been brewing before this event so on the Friday night after work with the event being the next day. I set to work doing some small tweaks to the car in light of it being on the main show stand. Ended up finally installing the GT3 brake ducts that i've had laying around a little while, chucked on some decals for various bits id had done to the car, Sprayed up some of the interior bits to match the yellow colour scheme and tidied up some of the ongoing bits including a proper side vent grill to hide the dull plastics on the other side of it etc...
Rob63
Looking nice, I particularly like the way you change out the decals to suit the event. How about a GT 3 'smile' front vent?
Popular Post Equinox
Few more updates to project Cayman. Installed some RS style door pulls in replacement of the original handle. There are ones made by Stewart Settles from the US at a fraction of the price of the original units sold through Porsche. Rather than replace the whole door mechanism, they simply mimic the original handle but with a pull strap in its place. Look almost identical to the original setup and the quality for a 3d printed part is very good. Also added some new rear wing risers in place of the original fibreglass solid ones. dirtbiker
Like the door pulls - probably less annoying than the ones in the Cayman R too (double pull confuses new passengers!) Good effort on the wing uprights too, much better looking!
