Popular Post phil27
My air conditioninghad stopped working recently so I guessed it was time for some new condensers and a re gas. The old condensers were looking pretty sorry for themselves and there was plenty of rubbish between them and the radiators so certainly worthwhile getting the bumper off to clean them up. Old condensers New ones fitted Pretty straightforward job only hard part was removing the old bolts they were pretty much stuck solid and required plenty of persuasion. £35 Groupon for a re gas at ATS and jobs a good one blowing ice cold air once more. It's certainly a job you can do yourself and save a decent amount of money. I wanted to protect the new condensers and have been looking at grills. I'm not a massive fan of them being stuck on the front so decided to have ago at making some myself. Some £8 mesh off eBay did the job and I was pretty happy with the out come. I used the smallest cable ties I could to keep it tidy. I know others prefer the Zunsport ones but I'm happy with my DIY job. Next up is it's 6 month's oil change and MOT next month. Approaching the end if my first year of ownership and can still say I'm hugely enjoying my first Porsche and Cayman.
twopointnine
Very smart job with the grills, and in my opinion they look better than the Zunsport ones.
garytipping
Looks great. I think they look much better than the external ones. I've seen U Tube clips of bumper removal, some say you need to lift the head lights, is that really required? Must get stuck in and do mine now. Cheers Gary Hi Gary no need to take the headlights off the car. Be easier if you had the car on a ramp or jacked up and the wheels off when removing the wheel arch liner but it is possible to do it without. Windymiller
DIY grilles look good Phil ?? Nice to know bumper off and condenser replacement is a relatively simple job too. Thanks for sharing
Rob63
Looks a lot better then the other options...I can say this as I did the same mod myself! As I remember, you will need to remove the headlight units if you've a Gen2 model. As the bumper was off I also had it resprayed, whilst in the shop I then fitted an OEM 997 central radiator and and intake grille, improved cooling and looks IMHO. Very simple mod. Rod Hall
Hi, anybody have a template to make grills for a 2008 Cayman please ?
Aaron
You don't need a template. You use the back of the bumper skin and cut them to size.
