In comparison to a Porsche, I feel they just don’t have the same appeal or wow factor. The sun came out today so I treated the car to a full wash, glaze and wax. I also fitted the rest of the side strips and got a few decent pictures including one of the cayman s tips now on the rear. Enjoy! Tom Stunning cayman that, love it. Be interested to follow your progress with it. know what you mean re notice factor. Heads turn when we’re in the little Porsche, people come over and ask about it. Kids love it. No one looks in the Audi. Probably because my P car is the kind of colour you’d get if you left a five year old alone with crayons . I love em. They seem to cheer people up. UKtom
Friday I was invited down to Auto Finesse HQ to get some social media content for their site/blogs. Such a good day, here are a handful of some of the pics from the day: Enjoy! Tom Edited February 18, 2018 by UKtom
Popular Post UKtom
Played around with a few camera settings last night as the sun was setting, and managed to capture this! One of my favourite photos ever captured. Tom
UKtom
Some sad news for the Cayman yesterday. Seems like a huge electrical fault somewhere, multiple error messages and misbehavings it's hard to keep track. The car was showing: - PSM Failure - Drive Off Assistant failure - Brake lights were on constantly - Car would lock, but interior lights flash on/off - Car alarm would sound 20-30 secs after locking - Headlights would intermittently flicker - Boot lid open warning light (boot lid was closed!) and, to top it all off... the car continued to run even when the key was turned and removed from the ignition. Crazy! The AA came out, tried a few different things but no luck. Ended up agreeing to pay to put the car in storage for the night as I couldn't leave it with the alarm going off, or unlocked outside our house. It is due to be dropped off today at Porsche Centre Portsmouth for inspection, but I am expecting the worst. Will update as soon as I hear anything. PMGPete
Could be a dud battery, it's amazing the havoc a bad battery can cause to modern electronics

Still waiting on the car to be dropped off at Porsche, after it being recovered by the AA 18.5 hours ago...!!!!! They have told me "its on its way" but can't tell me where it is... maybe in a container about to set sail? Tom

Bushman
my best guess would be a shorted cell in the battery throwing voltage spikes or a failed voltage regulator on the alternator
UKtom
Thanks guys, unfortunately still no luck with the car. Porsche spent an hour on it and put the issues down to a loose battery terminal. I paid + collected the car and within 10 mins of driving away all of the issues were back... so turned round and went straight back to the dealer. They are now approx 5 hours in, with no diagnosis. Unfortunately there is little I can do than keep paying for them to investigate, so who knows where we'll end up. I've lost faith in the car massively and after previously looking at selling up have decided now is the time. As soon as the car is fixed I'll regrettably be cutting my losses and PX'ing towards something else. It's been fun (and expensive!) while it lasted, I'll be sure to update you all on the cause of the issues and what will be replacing it. crafty1
Sorry to hear that Tom, I know what it is like when you've had enough of a car and have to move on just a shame for it to be like this, keep us posted with whatever you end up with, best of luck.
UKtom
Car update - after 6 hours labour, the car being fully stripped we think we've found the fault. After removing the passenger seat, Porsche found water underneath. Turns out a crushed water bottle had leaked onto the comfort control module. They are sourcing the part and replacing it for me, but yet to discover if it has shorted any other electrics elsewhere... I'm more annoyed at myself than anything else. That is my luck! Top tip: Check under your passenger seats for water bottles and remove them ASAP! Tom
graham.reeds
I had a water spillage in the Qashqui yesterday. Plant pot for mothers day + roundabout = spillage. Whacked the passenger side heating up and directed it at the feet and it was dry after a 4 1/2 hour drive last night. Glad you're getting it sorted. Still thinking of getting rid? You should be asking its forgiveness and taking it out for a meal to apologise!

UKtom
Car has now gone. I listed on AutoTrader for what I thought was a bargain price but had very little interest at all! I ended up part exchanging it, here is the replacement: It is a top of the range 2015 Audi S3 with pretty much every optional extra! It is a lovely drive - it's no porsche, but still seriously fun. Thanks for everyones help throughout the cayman ownership, it's a shame it didn't last as long as I had hoped. All the best. Tom

Corvus
Just bringing this thread back from the dead. How are you liking the S3, Tom? I'm thinking about selling my Cayman S now too and am looking into RS4 B8s. Just curious how you've found the move from something so sporty to some more practical?
