    • New update: everything has been going dandy until yesterday.  I got home from work, took my bag out of the boot and found it was soaking wet.  The boot smelt slightly odd, sweet - like coolant.   I needed to remove the carpet to dry it out it and figured I would have a poke around whilst I was there.  I couldn't check the coolant cap at the time as the coolant was still extremely hot.   After getting in there, there's a fair bit of coolant residue below the carpet on the chassis.  This is visible on the entire boot floor:     I checked the cap today and, lo and behold, the coolant has definitely been escaping...       I've cleaned up all of the residue, ordered a new cap from the local OPC (about £19.50) which I'll collect in a few days; then I'll top the coolant up and cross my fingers that this doesn't reoccur!    Since I had to remove all of the boot trim to extract the carpet, I had a quick go at something separate that's been annoying the s**t out of me: the boot requiring a lot of effort to shut properly.  Rather than flick your hand down using the internal handle, you really need to give it a good yank for it to shut properly.  A weak effort results in it grabbing the catch but not bottoming out and sticking up slightly - requiring a full reset and reattempt at closing.   I checked the latch and you could see that it was slightly crooked and no longer straight.  I figured this was the boot latch having shifted over time from repeated use of the boot.  I straightened it back out (loosen, adjust, then tighten the two T45 torx bolts), and now she closes with the flick of the wrist.  Excellent.  Small victories and all that.  The bolts seemed rather loose for holding something adjustable, so I tightened them a touch more than how they were to theoretically prevent this from happening again.
    • Hi Paz,   I'm probably going to change my 2011 2.9 Manual 987.2 next year, if I can afford and find something that could replace this, but I could do with 4 seats at some point, (ugh).   owned since Oct 2021, I've spent a lot on it to keep in top condition and deal with usual failure points, (linkage checked, lower arms, coolant pipes, aux belt tensioner, discs and usual preventative stuff, Zunsport grills and cleared out leaves etc.)... £3K last year, £1700 this month for Tyres (PS4's) lower arms and geometry as an MOT advisory to sort wear on nearside balljoint, and new screen 4 weeks ago. (stonechip->crack).   Porsche Service History until 2021 then Porsche Indy Service history (9 excellence). I've done oil changes annually (2 mechanics in the family 🙂) outside of these scheduled services.   69K on clock (under 5K miles a year), Black with Black interior, but does not have much in terms of extras, I don't have Bose, Chrono, PSE, PASM, leather Dash or climate control, (just aircon).   But I do have heated seats, and I don't really think I've ever missed the other stuff.. maybe climate control.   Not sure what you are looking for, but is this a spec of interest? For later this year or next if you get no luck finding the right one.
    • The best thing you can do is go to a shop and try different ones out. What suits other peoples kids might not be good for yours.  Do you still need backwards facing for the 2 year old?  You can get aftermarket ISO fix kits that bolt in.
    • Hi     I have a 2 year old and 6 year old.   Any tips for a car seat?   Car doesn't have isofix yet...
    • Shin etsu silicone grease is absolutely brilliant on rubber seals.
    • I’d recommend the door card clips, if they’ve been there a while easy to snap.   Will post a link of the ones I bought if I can find.   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332261495855   Also might be rubbers around the window, I used liquid moly rubber lubricant on mine which helped but help a mess opening closing windows for a bit.
    • Has anyone had any recent additions?
    • Lowered my window and it let rip with a hideous squeal.  I am going to remove the door card but if I need to replace something forewarned is forearmed?     PXL_20240510_163406512.mp4
    • Sounds like the secondary air injector/pump, which is supposed to reduce cold start emissions by dumping fresh air into the exhaust. It’s normal to hear it kicking in during cold weather, but it’s an ugly noise.   Have a look on YouTube for 911 or 987 secondary air pump noise — there should be some examples so you can compare to what you’re hearing.
